THE TRUTH IS
ALL AROUND US.
"The Spirit of truth will guide
you to all truth... He will declare
to you the things that are coming" (John 16:12-13)
The truth is all around us.
"The Spirit of truth will guide
you to all truth" (John 16:12). The
problem is that the world does not want to know anything
about it, does not want to hear it, does not want to receive it.
And, what is the
truth? Is the realization of the life of the
Trinity in the life of all human beings. In other words, we live the
truth whenever we follow the life of unity which exists between the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if we live in unity,
we live the truth.
In a world of global domination,
the powerful refuse to see the truth because the truth denounces their
sins and crimes.
With the truth all around him, the powerful reacts
as follows:
- He feels offended by it. For example, when the global oppressor is
called an oppressor, he says: "the truth is a lie".
- He destroys anyone who declares the truth.
- He makes up his own fabricated "truth" and says: "I
am not an oppressor, I only pursue "peace and freedom" for
all the world.
Furthermore, the truth not only
denounces the crimes and sins of our present world, but also "declares
to us the things that are coming" (John
16:13). It is, then, a virtue of the truth to allow us to see what the
future has in store for the human race.
But the global oppressor shots down any
vision of what awaits humanity, the powerful covers
his eyes before the inevitability of his own demise because his own
injustices and sins will bring about his own destruction.
Thus, instead of mending his unjust ways,
the powerful oppressor chooses to dwell in them. The
powerful never gets tired of saying: "war and death are necessary",
"the immigrant workers must be separated from their children and
spouses", "the unborn child must be terminated before he sees
the light of day". And millions of individuals are deceived into
believing and supporting the "truth" of the powerful.
Does this mean that there is
no room for the truth in our world? By
no means, for the Lord Jesus has given us his Spirit,
the Spirit of truth, the Spirit that will never cease to reveal God's
truth to humanity. The Lord Jesus continues to speak and act through
his Spirit, which with the love of the Father, lives in those who receive
him.
The Trinitarian God continues
his work in us in order that we may come to understand
the truth, in order to teach us how to deal with oppression, in order
to guide us on the way to save the world from the impending calamities
resulting from the sins and crimes generated by the global oppressor.
This is the feast we celebrate this Sunday: the
presence of the Trinitarian God working to save a world
where the powerful exploits and destroys the weak.
This Sunday we celebrate the presence of the Trinitarian God who forever
lives in men revealing his truth to them and liberating them from all
their chains.
This Sunday we celebrate the presence of the Trinitarian God whose truth
is all around us.
